Two Days in the Life of an ID Artist!
This last month saw Jordan's next chapter on the L’Oreal ID Artist programme, this time in London … “Day One is really fun as a second year ID Artist because we get to see all our 'L’Oreal Family' again. After we all meet, greet and re-bonded, we go through to the main training area where we spend the day. This is where the fun really starts. The first guest artist was Adam Reed from Percy and Reed. His looks were fantastic and mind blowing. He showed us techniques which really got your mind working and your creative juices flowing!
The next Guest Artists were Steve Rowbottom and Jenny Pelter from Westrow. Steve and Jenny went through four models, explaining how they were cut and coloured. As Jenny coloured the hair live, Steve cut a model on the other side of the stage – this was really exciting. The cuts that Steve created were pristine, gorgeous precision cuts with a small twist. The cuts really coincided with the colour. Jenny also coloured a weft which then later went in the back of one model which worked really well.
Day Two went straight into workshops. We are split into groups and we rotate. First I went into Cutting and then next onto Simon Shaw, the God of presenting! We all had 20 mins as small groups to come up with a concept and present in front of the other groups. We chose Balmain Couture Autumn Winter 2015.
Adam Reed was my last workshop. Adam said to us that we could do whatever we really want to work on and anything we wanted him to show us individually. I think that worked well because it utilised the time, then we all went around each other's work and had a look. Adams a great inspiration as he has worked on so many editorials so really knows his stuff! I have already purchased nearly half of his kit whilst on the train on the way home!
I can't wait to be back with the L’Oreal gang again. It was such an amazing fun-filled two days. L’Oreal never fail to amaze. Now back in the salon full of ideas. See you all soon!"
Jordan will be live in action next week as the ID Team present the Catwalk Showcase in Leeds show revealing the latest colour, cutting and styling trends for Autumn/Winter 2015. Jordan Robertson is one of Room97’s bright, young things – and was selected as part of the sort-after L’Oreal ID Programme that develops the talent of young hairdressers, helping to create the industry stars of the future. And as he was recently selected as finalist of the Newcomer of the Year category in this year’s HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, he is certainly, living up to the accolade. Go Jordan!!!
